23 May, 2020 – Advent Announcements

RETURNING TO CHURCH – NO LIVE/IN-PERSON WORSHIP YET, BUT WE ARE GETTING CLOSER!

The Church Council is continuing to discuss our returning to church in person. We’ll consider the Governor’s Orders and Suggestions, review with other local churches, and pastors, and medical professionals, and then we’ll look at going back when it is safe to do so. Additionally, we are forming the ACTS (Advent Coronavirus Team of Safety) Task Force to determine our next steps in returning to worship.

Virtual Worship Services – We continue with our Virtual Worship Services online. An email will go out Sunday with our Worship Service. You may also check our YouTube Channel: Advent Lutheran Church Chapel Hill or take a look at the Website: www.AdventLutheranCH.org.

Job looks to God…

Join us this Wednesday “VIRTUALLY!” for our Bible Class – Join us the next two Wednesdays at 1 p.m. as we look at the Book of Job, and reflect on how God works even when things don’t seem to be going that well.

Helping Those in Need During CoVid-19 – We continue to reach out during this time and we have checked with PORCH (People Offering Relief for Chapel Hill-Carrboro Homes).  The best way to work with them as we are in this pandemic, is to go directly to their website:   www.chapelhill.porchcommunities.org Then, click on the floating banner in red, which says Click here for how to help during COVID-19 crisis. They accept financial donations, they then safely provide to those who are in need of help. For non-perishable food donations, they are referring people to places we have worked with before, such as:  Inter-faith Council For Social  Services  http://www.ifcweb.org and Orange Congregations In Mission www.ocimnc.org. Thanks for continued to care for our community!

Additionally, the Town of Chapel Hill has provided a document for information on food provision in the area. If you would need a Spanish or Mandarin version of this document to forward, please reply to this email. Also, the Town has a Resources for Muslims during Ramadan document, if you need that forwarded. Here is the Town’s food provision document: file:///C:/Users/Pastor%20Scott%20Lohman/Downloads/ENGLISH%20COVID-19%20Food%20Distribution%20Flyer%20(1).pdf
